On October 24th 2018 Nodes invited for a Tech After-Work Event in our Berlin office to discuss about
‘The Future of App Development’.
Numerous participants from different companies joined us for an interesting and entertaining evening. Our speakers elaborated on Trunk Based Development and Full Stack Development.

Welcome & Introduction
Christian Weinberger – Technical Director at Nodes Germany GmbH
Christian Weinberger, kicked off the evening by introducing himself and Nodes presenting one of the cases Nodes worked for: eBoks. It is an app providing a state-of-the-art digital mail delivery between companies and private mailers. Full Stack Development with Swift and Vapor
Tim Condon – Software Engineer at the BBC and founder of Broken Hands
Tim Condon took over and talked about Swift and why it should be considered as more than just a language for iOS. He discussed about the benefits of moving to full stack development and why Swift is the perfect language to use. Feel free to have a glance in his presentation here.
Of Death and Dying: A Journey to Trunk Based Development
Matthias Huttar – Head of Platform Engineering at Naspers Limited
Matthias Huttar finished off the evening, telling a story about Nora and her Dionysus team. He revealed an entertaining story – in the spirit of the Phoenix Project – about a team moving from Github flow to Trunk Based Development. He covered the theory of that process from a technical but also cultural point of view. The full presentation can be downloaded below.
